Faith Formation - Ministries:

The following are the various ministries that enable our parish to properly operate in no particular order:

|Catechists

Catechists provide learning for our children and youth (and adults through the RCIA, Bible Study, etc.) so that all may grow in our faith. Catechists are especially important for our children, preschool through 8th grade. This ministry allows individuals the privilege and responsibility of sharing their knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, their Catholic faith with our children.

|Children's Religious Education

Our Sunday Morning Religious Education Program is a means of teaching and forming the children of our parish. While the children who typically participate in the program are elementary and middle school students who attend public schools, we welcome any child. Preparing our children for the sacraments is an important part of the program. Ultimately, we hope that this formation will encourage our young people to become active members of the parish community. The program runs from September through late April on Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:45. Each month, throughout the educational year, selected classes have the opportunity to participate in the Sunday liturgy—filling roles as lectors, greeters, gift bearers, and singers in the children’s choir.

|Vacations Bible School

Held the last full week of June each year at St. Patrick, the VBS is open to all children from grades Pre-K through 5th. Students 6th grade and older are asked to be classroom assistants. Activities include music, games, snack, crafts and storytelling. To register or find out more information call the parish office.

|Hispanic Rosary

The Hispanic community of our local area meets at St. Margaret Mary each Thursday evening at 7:00 pm to pray the Rosary in the language of their countries. They meet in the Legacy Room.

|Filipino Rosary

The Filipino community of St. Margaret Mary meet on the 1st Wednesday of the month for a communal Filipino meal and to pray the Rosary. All are welcome to join them!

|Marriage Preparation

Marriage Preparation couples assist engaged couples as they prepare to enter into the sacramental bond of Holy Matrimony. Training for preparation couples is provided, and periodic meetings take place to review and encourage the preparation catechists.

|RCIA

The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults functions to form and inform adults—those who are unbaptized or those who are baptized Christians, but are not Catholic—in the Catholic Faith and prepare them for full initiation in the Church. St. Margaret Mary, St. Patrick, Sacred Heart and St. Benedict parishes together provide this opportunity to potential parishioners.

|RCIA Sponsors

Candidates and catechumens preparing for full initiation into the Catholic Church need a sponsor. They may choose their own or the RCIA coordinator will match them with someone from among the members of the parish. The sponsor’s role is to act as a friend and spiritual companion for the person who is journeying toward full initiation at the Great Easter Vigil.

|Youth Ministry

Youth Ministry serves our high school students. The ministry is holistic in its approach, including religious education classes, social activities, youth Masses, service projects, Confirmation preparation, and leadership training. Information about Youth Ministry, including the current calendar, can be found at http://www.terrehauteym.org.
